The November Election Was Held On June 24th | Ep. 254 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Imagine, if you will, for just one moment, a United States Congress — the House and the Senate — without a single Republican holding office. A party of traitors that the American people simply vote entirely out of office. Poof. Gone. History. We’ve done it before, voting out and ending entire political parties. Other democracies have voted every right-winger out of office. Sometimes, the only way to save yourselves is to crush the enemy who is hell-bent on crushing you. Thanks to a Supreme Court that Trump packed with religious zealots, they issued an edict on June 24th that sealed their doom and the end of the Republican Party as we know it. Here’s how to make sure they reap what they have sown — less than 10 weeks from today… Listen & share... EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM: WE ARE ALL IN KANSAS! | Ep. 251 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

THIS JUST IN: The citizens of the State of Kansas — which is one of our reddest and most Republican states — has just voted in an overwhelming landslide tonight to keep abortion legal and available to all women! Here Michael Moore sends the word out to all that those who seek to take rights away from women shall not succeed and will be defeated in this fall’s election. Voters in Kansas came out in droves on Tuesday to tell the Supreme Court where they could go. Their message to the rest of us is clear: We have 3 months to work as hard as we can to save our Democracy. All Democrats must sign a pledge to make Roe v Wade the law of the land — and to eliminate the filibuster. All Republicans who voted against certifying the legal results of the 2020 election must go to wherever traitors go. Popes of Genocides Past and Present | Ep. 250 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Last week Pope Francis visited Canada to apologize and seek forgiveness for the crimes committed by the Catholic Church against the indigenous peoples of Canada. He called that practice of Christianity “evil.” On the first day of his visit Mike received an email from one of Canada’s most well known and beloved Native Canadians, the folksinger Buffy Sainte Marie. In it she explains why an apology isn’t enough. Mike then asks the Pope (whom he’s met) to grant indigenous people everywhere a Papal Decree that’s long overdue. *************** Read more about The Doctrine of Discovery: Klik hier from today’s episode: “Aiya Surli Tikiatasanga (The Time I Arrive)” — Leo Osoak Klik hier Mission (Gabriel’s Oboe)” — Ennio Morricone Klik hier Soldier” — Buffy Sainte Marie Klik hier Underwriters: 1) Anchor.fm can help you start your own podcast. Forget Me Not | Ep. 248 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

When the news of the week’s events becomes so deafening, so monstrous, that it overwhelms us — we miss critical other events that will affect us greatly. This week, filled with the Supreme Court declaring women second-class citizens, the January 6th Hearing confirming Trump sought to stage a coup, and mass shootings continuing nationwide, there were vital stories that went uncovered and ignored. On today’s podcast Mike shares with his audience three big stories that were overlooked by the majority of the American public: the successful unionizing of the first Apple Store; the Israeli Defense Force shooting and killing an American journalist; and the Michigan Supreme Court on Tuesday unanimously blocking the prosecution of the Republican ex-governor for poisoning the water of Flint, Michigan. EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM: Millions Must Respond. Abort. The. Court. |Ep. 246 Rumble w/ Michael Moore

In this emergency podcast released just minutes after the Supreme Court ruled that women will be forced to give birth should they become pregnant, Michael Moore joins women’s groups in calling for nationwide protests in cities across the country — today, tonight and every day until full rights are restored to women. On this day of infamy, Mike asks friend and podcaster Francesca Fiorentini to read the first feminist proclamation from 1791 — “Declaration of the Rights of Women” by Olympe de Gouges. It’s sickening how little has changed. For her treason against the patriarchy, de Gouges was beheaded. A thought that must make this Court smile. Repeal the Second Amendment | Ep. 244 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

The night of the Uvalde massacre, Michael gave his first televised response to a mass shooting in over a decade. And what he said was so powerful, and so truthful, it frightened Democrats who are afraid to go all the way to stop this madness. It frightened Republicans so much, one their craziest, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), took to the House floor this week to denounce Michael by name during the debate on possible new gun laws. What did he say? Just the same thing over a hundred million Americans were already thinking but nobody on TV was saying. So, he decided somebody had to speak the unspeakable, that which no red-blooded American is supposed to say. On this episode of RUMBLE, he goes ahead and says it again. I Know There's A Number | Ep. 242 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

This week was another sick celebration of the American way. And all week Michael has been haunted by this unanswered question — What is the number? Columbine wasn’t enough… Sandy Hook wasn’t enough… Parkland wasn’t enough… Will Robb Elementary be enough? How many dead children before America will rise up and scream “THAT’S IT! THAT IS ENOUGH”? On this episode of Rumble, Michael shares the brutal, honest truth — we are a violent, armed country, founded in genocide and built on the backs of slaves. But as history shows us, if we can face who we are, we can become the country, and the people, we want to be. ************* Music in today’s episode: “Emily Dickenson” — by Marvin Hamlisch (from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack “Sophie’s Choice”): Klik hier Underwriters: 1) Anchor.fm can help you start your own podcast. A Handmaid's Country (feat. Cynthia Conti-Cook) | Ep. 239 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Last week we blinked and opened our eyes to a vision of a different world. A nightmare foretold is to become our future — a U.S. citizen who becomes pregnant can be stripped of their bodily autonomy and forced, by the U.S. government, to give birth. Attempt to abort the fetus, and you can be charged with murder. The idea of that reality is draconian and horrific. But what most people don’t know is that we are already living in a reality that is much more sinister. Confide in a desperate text to your friend your fears of being pregnant, or simply Google the word “abortion” before having a miscarriage… and you can be charged with murder. On this episode of Rumble, Michael is joined by Cynthia Conti-Cook, award-winning civil rights attorney and current Technology Fellow on the Ford Foundation’s Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Justice team. Michael Moore
David Letterman & Me | Ep. 238 Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Long before he first hosted “Late Night with David Letterman,” Michael was a fan of David Letterman's wicked humor that was often based on his total lack of respect for authority, pomposity, and those who make life miserable for the little guy. When it was announced Letterman would have a nightly show on NBC beginning on February 1, 1982, Michael made his way from Flint to New York to see if he could get a stand-by ticket to sit in the audience during Letterman's first week on the air. He succeeded. Letterman's guest that night? Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. Michael couldn’t believe his luck. At that time it would be another seven years before his first film, Roger & Me, would be released. In this episode Michael talks about what he learned about satire from David Letterman while sitting and watching him from Flint. And how Letterman impacted Michael (without knowing it) and the film and TV work he would eventually do. This episode of Rumble is a personal peek behind how Michael grew to reach his own audience thanks in part to the inspiration Dave offered him. **************** Watch the Late Night with David Letterman episodes & clips featured in this episode of Rumble: February 8, 1982 episode featuring Francis Ford Coppola Klik hier 18, 1986 episode clip when Dave takes a fruit basket to GE, his new bosses Klik hier 27, 1989 episode clip of Michael’s first interview with Dave, after the release of Roger & Me Klik hier in today’s episode: I Was in the House When The House Burned Down — Warren Zevon: Klik hier underwriters: 1) Anchor.fm can help you start your own podcast. On this provocative episode of Rumble with Michael Moore, Mike speaks the awful truth about how our environmental movement has failed us and why we must change course — and leadership — immediately. Planet Earth is fed up with us, and from climate to coronavirus, it sees no choice but to throw an extinction event. Justice Jackson and the Putin That Is Us | Rumble with Michael Moore Podcast

It’s another week of mind-dumbing drivel and tragedy, beginning with the Senate Republicans’ racist mansplainin’ and prop-making of the brilliant new nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court — where, in the near future, this white privileged performance art will not exist any longer. Make no mistake — that hearing wasn’t a hearing. It was a dry run for the Republicans’ staging of this November’s midterms — running their candidates on the Q-Anon agenda and honing their election-stealing plans to perfection. Mike also shares his latest thoughts on how the war in Ukraine is “progressing” — and suggests Zelensky should switch the narrative regarding the hapless Russian army and surprise Putin by now conducting a Ukrainian invasion of Russia. It’s what a true satirist president would do. And it would make Putin’s head spin out of control just long enough for the generals and the oligarchs to stage their coup and end this madness. ******** Don’t wait for the Supreme Court verdict; help protect women’s right to choose TODAY. Temptations of War | Rumble with Michael Moore Podcast

It’s been three weeks since Putin invaded Ukraine. Three… long… weeks. Three weeks of an endless, looping news cycle. Change the channel — same story, different pundits. But behind the horrific videos of tanks blowing up cars and dead bodies in the streets, behind the escalating, heartbreaking stories of refugees fleeing in terror and American journalists being killed, Michael senses something more sinister is at play. We, the American public, who never met a war we didn’t like, are being manipulated by other Americans who are trying to take us to war. Politicians, pundits, ex-Generals and corporate masters looking for greater profits. And no heartstring will be left unplayed until they have our ear and we the people are demanding blood. The only thing for us to do is to fight back and make it clear — No Americans in Ukraine, no air war with Russia, no World War III. ************** Call the House and Senate switchboard at: 202-224-3121 202-225-3121 Find out how to contact your Senator here. Michael Moore: Ep. 231: Empire Down

Late Wednesday night —at least, late at night here in the states — Russia launched a full-fledged assault on Ukraine. Refugees have fled the country in droves, and Putin’s army has moved in on or around nearly every major city in a matter of 36 hours. It’s a nightmare scenario. But there are those already beating the drum for the United States to “do more.” More? More of what? No, you don’t want us anywhere near this. The United States, which for the past half-century, has only made things worse every single place we have sent in the bomber jets or the troops who are about to die for all the wrong reasons. We can no longer claim the moral high ground (if we ever could), and after Iraq we’ve been sent to the time-out room to think about the misery we’ve caused this world. So today on Rumble, Michael sifts through his thoughts on this crisis, and talk about why, above all else, and no matter what — the United States cannot involve itself in this war. Let the smart people find every way possible to crush Putin without firing a shot. ***** Music in Today’s Episode: “????? ?????? Michael Moore: Ep 228: Gen U: Generation Union (feat. Jaz Brisack & Casey Moore of Starbucks Workers

There's a new hit item on the menu at Starbucks stores across the country: a signed union card. The workers at multiple Buffalo, NY-area Starbucks stores formed Starbucks Workers United this August, in response to dangerous COVID working conditions, unequal pay, and inadequate benefits. In less than half a year, they've managed to already unionize two Buffalo-area stores, in Elmwood and in Genesee, at a company notoriously aggressive in their anti-union tactics. This is huge, a game-changing pair of victories — even in a year full of strikes and COVID walkouts. To hear the story of how these incredible Starbucks Workers United organized this victory, and how you can organize your workplace, Michael talked with the Starbucks workers Jaz Brisack & Casey Moore — or, as the Orwellian Starbucks PR calls them, “partners” — two young women who helped lead the organizing effort and succeeded in slaying the giant. During the interview, Casey and Jaz encouraged Michael to cold-call the CEO of Starbucks. And when he does, someone in Nicaragua picks up the phone. It’s another one of those weeks: 5G gives you better reception but possible plane crashes, Biden trusts Trump’s Postmaster General to get us our COVID tests, and the Supreme Court blocks a federal mandate to get everyone vaccinated. Plus, the voting rights bill is on its death march. We’re at the first anniversary of Biden’s presidency. Republicans are licking their chops. Cable news has written Biden’s obituary. They’re missing one thing - the majority of Americans don’t want a Republican anywhere near the White House. "It's Still January 6th" (with Rep. Dan Kildee D-MI) | Rumble with Michael Moore Podcast

A year ago tomorrow, outgoing President Donald Trump gave an hour-long speech to a large crowd of his most ardent and agitated supporters, encouraging them to march down Pennsylvania Ave. to the Capitol and demand Congress “Stop the Steal” — the “steal” in this case being the Congressional ratification of an election he lost fair and square, and an integral part of the peaceful transition of power. What followed was a violent attempted coup of the United States, one in which an essentially all-white mob stormed the Capitol building, threatening the lives of countless workers and staffers in the building, elected representatives from every state in the union, and even the Vice President who ran alongside Trump on his losing ticket. This grim day of white terror was brought about by months of President Trump egging his supporters on with baseless claims of a fraudulent election, all while his own party worked tirelessly to continue to erode voting rights across the country. But unfortunately, this trend of white right-wing violence in America far predates Trump. To try and make sense of all this a year later, Michael spoke with Rep. Dan Kildee of Michigan — the US Congressional representative for Flint, and Michael’s longtime close friend. A year ago, Rep. Kildee talked to Michael on Rumble in the immediate aftermath, after calling Michael from the Congressional floor during the insurrection — with gunshots and rioting in the background. Today, Michael & Rep. Kildee talk about what has changed in the past year, what hasn’t, and what we can do to stop this from happening again. They also talk about how this experience has impacted both of them very personally, and unpack how right wing violence and voting rights are inseparable issues. ***** Read about Rep. Michael Moore: Econ 101 with Robert Reich

With the end of the year approaching & reports about inflation dominating the nightly news, Americans are anxious about what this means for them. Former US Secretary of Labor and progressive activist Robert Reich, however, thinks this is a major misdiagnosis: the problem isn’t inflation, but a lack of competition to stop big, monolithic corporations from jacking up prices. Robert joins Mike on the show today to talk about who is really responsible for your gas and milk prices skyrocketing, and why it’s more important than ever for the government to intervene in a moment when they’re trying to pull back. Plus, they discuss the rising labor movements in America and whether the “labor shortage” the media & big companies keep alleging is actually a general strike of workers across the country. Ep. 223: High Noon for Senator Murphy | Rumble with Michael Moore Podcast

On the day of the school shooting at Oxford High School last week, Senator Chris Murphy delivered a passionate speech on the Senate floor tying together the dishonest “sanctity of life” rhetoric from conservatives and the culture of guns, violence and death that is plaguing America. Senator Murphy has been a leading voice when it comes to gun violence in America ever since the Sandy Hook massacre on ??December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut. He joins Mike to discuss how America’s founding violence against slaves made the disregard for human life part of our national ethos and how America’s modern day wars overseas continues to legitimize and promote violence both abroad and at home. They also discuss the possibility and the limits of gun legislation, the power of visceral, uncensored images to change history, and the potential compromise on filibuster reform. Ep. 222: The Stench (w/ Justice Sonia Sotomayor, et al.) | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Today was a chillingly, historically, bad day for women's rights in the United States of America. The right-wing, reactionary Supreme Court heard stunning oral arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a case intended deal a death blow to Roe v. Wade and make abortion in America essentially illegal. But in listening to the arguments and to the mind-altering questions of the six conservative justices, you can hear far more than the death knell of Roe. After 50 years of the merger between right-wing corporate interests and right-wing Evangelical Christianity within the conservative movement and the Republican party, the Supreme Court has become the ultimate and unstoppable weapon when it comes to rolling back our democratic values in America. We are in deep trouble. So in this special episode of Rumble, after an introduction from Michael, you will hear the full, unedited oral arguments in what will soon turn out to be an infamous day in U.S. history. They also discuss the neverending campaign from corporate Democrats and corporate media pushing the party to move to the “center” and be more “moderate” and water down all of their programs that the American people and the planet currently need. You '22 (w/ Amanda Litman) | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

If you’ve been following the recent political machinations out of D.C. or in any state, you’ve probably wondered at some point: “how did THAT guy get elected to public office?!” Sadly, the bar is really low. The good news is that there are hundreds of new, first-time, working class, and diverse candidates who have decided to raise their hands, take the plunge and run for office locally in the past 5 years. And there are some outstanding groups working to recruit, guide and help these new candidates in their runs for anything from city council to school board to precinct delegate to drain commissioner. In this episode, Mike is joined by Amanda Litman, the co-founder of Run for Something, an organization that launched in 2017 and has successfully helped elect 508 candidates in 48 states. These winners are 56% women, 56% Black, Indigenous or People of Color, 21% LGBTQ+, and all 40 years old or younger. This crop of candidates represent the majority of Americans that want a living wage, climate justice, voting rights, equal rights for women, and all the other obvious things. And while the results aren’t exactly in for Election Day 2021, the majority is winning. And Amanda delivers some inspiring news in grim times. Plus, Mike shares the story of how, in the first election that 18-year olds were given the right to vote, he ran for school board with the promise of firing the principal and firing the vice principal of his high school...and won! Ep. 217: How “Moderates” Are Killing America (w/ David Sirota) | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

After the promise of major legislation that would rival the impact of FDR’s New Deal, Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda has been sucked dry by corporate America and their pawns in the Senate. Instead of massive new programs to help children, parents, students, the elderly and all us by dealing with the climate crisis, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema appear to have brought the $3.5 trillion bill down to some crumbs. And rather than having it all paid for by taxing the wealthy, they may be putting a halt to that plan, as well. This is a monumental disaster that will not only hurt the American people, but will once again expose the Democratic party as weak, feckless, and still in the grasp of Wall Street, the pharmaceutical industry and the usual special interests. Turnout for the 2022 midterm elections will be suffocated and the Republican party will feast on the Democrats’ stupidity and ride back into power on it (with Trump waiting in the wings in 2024). Mike’s joined by a great journalist and former Bernie speechwriter, David Sirota, to talk about where things stand and discuss the need for progressives in congress to HOLD THE LINE and not support these bills moving forward unless items like Paid Family Leave, Medicare Expansion, and taxing the ultra-rich are put back in. For the past few weeks, conservative, corporatist Democrats in Congress have been chipping away at what Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders have teamed up to create -- a massive $3.5 trillion investment in the American people. The negotiations on this legislation are ongoing and Mike is joined by a member of Congress fighting to keep the bill as robust and helpful to the majority of Americans as possible, Rep. Ro Khanna of California. Mike and Rep. Khanna discuss what’s in the damn bill, what listeners need to do to help get it passed, what it’s failure might mean to the country, and how devastating it could be politically. Well, Donziger is the lawyer who successfully sued the oil giant Chevron on behalf of the people of Ecuador for deliberately discharging 16 billion gallons of toxic waste in the Ecuadorian Amazon between 1964 and 1992. Donziger and his colleagues succeeded and won a $9.5 billion judgment on behalf of the indigenous and poor communities of Ecuador in 2011. Chevron has yet to pay a dime on this judgement and instead, have brought this case to the friendly confines of the United States and turned Donziger, the person who successfully prosecuted them, into the one doing time. Mike is joined by Steven Donziger, live from his house arrest, to explain the Kafka-esque/Twilight Zone case in which Donziger is serving as the punching bag of corporate America, with the American people footing the bill. They discuss this bizarre and unprecedented case, his condition, and what we all must do to fight back. Episode Notes: Announcement on U.N. Michael Moore: Why Buffalo Matters. Why India Walton Matters. Why Democratic Socialism Matters (w/In

India Walton shocked the political world and upset the establishment by running against and defeating a four-term incumbent Democratic Mayor of Buffalo this past June in the Democratic primary. She’s a nurse, a union organizer, a single mother, and she will become the first socialist mayor of a major American city since 1960 if she wins the general election in November. The political establishment in Buffalo is not taking this lightly. So, while she should be coasting to a victory in November because Buffalo is overwhelmingly Democratic, she has a very difficult opponent, backed by Trump people – Byron Brown, the guy she just defeated in the primary. This is such an important race -- all the issues we are facing all over the country -- Covid-19, the police state, the prison industrial complex, economic inequality, climate, and sexual violence -- they all play a role in this race. And India Walton’s a thoughtful and forceful candidate and leader we should get behind to take care of these issues that plague us all. Congress could be on the verge of passing a historic investment in America's human and physical infrastructure not seen since the 1930's. Yet two Democratic Senators -- Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona -- stand in the way of getting it done. Michael Moore is joined by Rep. He joins Michael to speak on Afghanistan, the collapse of the American empire, the upcoming 9/11 anniversary, and the end of abortion rights in Texas (and around the U.S.) Hedges was a war correspondent for many years and has seen awful human degradation, societies in collapse, social bonds being ruptured, and people turning to “self-destructive behavior and magical thinking.” Alarmingly, he sees all of these signals of decay here in America. Hedges has also studied the Evangelical Christian Right in America and wrote a prescient book in 2008 titled, “American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America.” He details the decades-long battle on women’s reproductive rights, the cynical and dishonest methods used to restrict access to abortion and how this pernicious form of fascism has only grown stronger since that book was published. However, as a teacher, an ordained Presbyterian minister, and a graduate from Harvard’s Divinity School, Hedges draws on the teachings of great philosophers and theologians to lay out a moral imperative for solidarity and struggle and explains why we must not succumb to despair. "Will They Every Trust Us Again?" | Fahrenheit 9/11 | Michael Moore

"And it's not a matter of whether the war is not real or if it is. Victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia but to keep the very structure of society intact." - Orwell

Sign-up for Michael Moore's FREE email list at: MichaelMoore.com Within days after the U.S. losing its longest-ever war, its new President stepped in, and in less than two weeks, evacuated thousands of Americans to safety — and over 100,000 Afghan refugees. In the face of knowing that ISIS — sworn enemy of both the Taliban and the Pentagon — was planning to disrupt the peaceful evacuation in Kabul, Biden and his team organized hundreds of flights, in and out of Kabul, to Germany, Italy, Spain and four Gulf States. He ordered United, Delta and four other American airlines to fork over 18 commercial jumbo jets to assist in the evacuation, immediately setting up refugee housing villages at Ft. Bliss in Texas, and bases in New Jersey, Wisconsin and Virginia. And he oversaw private negotiations with the Taliban to secure as best possible the safety of every single American and Afghan refugee. The result? Not one single American or Afghan, who helped America, has been killed by the Taliban. Not one plane shot down. And in spite of the ISIS-K suicide bombings, Biden has not flinched, not retreated, not backed down. He has forged ahead with his evacuation plan with the help of the Taliban. *The help of the Taliban!* Biden is a genius to have pulled this off. Bernie campaigner Michael Moore, here on this episode of his RUMBLE podcast, dissects how Biden has saved tens of thousands of lives — and his reward is to be pilloried by the same pro-war press that got us into this mess and by an American public that has turned its back on him. “We deserve what we get,” says Mike in his blistering, spot-on defense of a President he didn’t want to vote for. Michael Moore: Frank Moore in Hollywood: A Look Back | Francis Richard Moore, August 23, 1921 - Apri

Francis Richard Moore, August 23, 1921 - April 19, 2014. He was Frank to all who knew and loved him, and there were many. Born on August 23, 1921, in a working class neighborhood on the east side of Flint, the son of Herbert R. Moore and Mary ‘Molly’ (Connors) Moore. Both sides of the family originally came from Ireland -- the last to arrive being his grandfather, William Connors and grandmother Mary (Hogan) Connors, both of whom hailed from County Cork. The entire family was not only proud of being Irish, they were also grateful for its gifts of humor, Catholicism and music (though not necessarily in that order). Frank’s father, Herb (1891-1970), was a Marine Corps. veteran of World War I and a printing pressman by trade. His mother, Molly (1891-1987), in addition to giving birth to their seven children, worked as a laundry maid, a clerk, and a “Rosie the Riveter” assembly line factory worker during the second world war. The Great Depression had a major impact on the family, as it did for most of the families on the east side. Frank’s brother-in-law, Lavern, was a participant in the Great Flint Sit Down Strike of 1936-37 which launched the United Auto Workers union. Frank was the fourth of seven children and was baptized and educated at St. Mary’s Parish in Flint. He was a member of the St. Mary’s High School 1939 Class C State Championship basketball team -- and he and his team were inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. He also played football and baseball for St. Mary’s, and once faced the legendary Hal Newhouser, getting St. Mary’s only hit off him.... Klik hier

With COVID-19 cases skyrocketing in the U.S. and around the world, and the Delta variant causing havoc, we must face the fact that this pandemic is on the verge causing much more death and illness as students prepare to go back to school next month. Ep. 201: Hey, You Know Any Women? (w/ Legendary News Anchor Carol Jenkins) | Rumble w/ Michael Moore

After first being drafted in 1923 by two leaders of the women’s suffrage movement and then finally being passed by Congress in 1972, the century-long struggle to have the Equal Rights Amendment ratified and gender-equality enshrined in the U.S. Constitution is finally on the brink of succeeding. That's because in 2020, the state of Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the E.R.A. matching the two-thirds threshold needed to ratify a constitutional amendment. However, an arbitrary 7-year time limit on the 1972 legislation has provided one final hurdle that advocates for women's equality must overcome. Since Michael spoke with Rep. Jackie Speier in February, the House has passed her bill to remove the deadline to ratify the E.R.A. Now, it's in the Senate's hands. Michael is joined by the ground-breaking TV anchor and President of the E.R.A. Coalition Carol Jenkins to discuss the next steps towards achieving gender equality in the U.S. Constitution. Ep. 197: Welcome To The Department of Restorative Justice & Redemption | Rumble with Michael Moore

America's prison system is brutal, stupid and inhumane. It makes us all less safe and has a terrible impact on other parts of our society such as health care, education, and even how we treat one another. "Reform" or band-aids will not make it better - it must be uprooted, abolished and replaced. Michael Moore recently proposed a "Department of Public Safety & Compassion" to replace the existing way we do policing. In this episode, he proposes a "Department of Restorative Justice & Redemption" to replace our existing Prison Industrial Complex. He is joined by Dan Berger, a scholar who has studied prison abolition for several years. They talk about the never-discussed constituency in America called "the criminalized majority," how cruel behavior in society is often taught by cruel institutions (like prisons) themselves, and what they would do if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered. The private tax returns of America's wealthiest few individuals were just leaked to the non-profit journalists at ProPublica and they reveal an American plutocracy that has completely avoided paying personal taxes. We already knew that the wealthiest corporations were able to maneuver the tax code to their benefit, but the levels at which the ultra-wealthy are able to avoid taxes is maddening. And it is all LEGAL. Michael is joined by journalist and author Anand Giridharadas to discuss how they've been able to rig the system, why this is Exhibit A for why we need a wealth tax, and why so many working class Americans have been indoctrinated into supporting the rich and being against taxing them more. Ep. 194: Welcome To The Department of Public Safety & Compassion | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

The billions of dollars that currently go to police departments across America are NOT contributing to the safety, health and well-being of our citizens. It's time to re-imagine how we think about "public safety" and "law and order." As police budgets continue to increase (despite calls to defund the police), Michael Moore shares a proposal for the creation of The Department of Public Safety & Compassion in every town in America. Rather than attempting to solve human problems by sending in men with badges and guns, we need to dismantle this anachronistic armed wing of the patriarchy and have a department that will serve and truly protect the public from the real dangers in our society: hunger, the lack of clean drinking water, mental health needs, insufficient healthcare, opioid addiction, inadequate public schools, etc. What if we had Public Safety officers whose sole job was to aid the homeless, the unemployed, the addicted, the mentally ill? Don’t they deserve to be protected? From us? Won’t every neighborhood be better off if those suffering in a society fueled by greed, racism and inequity were helped rather than jailed, abused and abandoned? Wouldn’t there in fact be less “crime” if we chose to attack the real crimes and the true criminals who’ve created these appalling conditions? Instead of a militarized police state, what if we built a compassionate state staffed by those with love in their hearts and the knowledge of how to provide the actual help people need when they call 911? Defund the police? De-police the police! Every neighborhood deserves better, much better. It’s the 21st century, folks. C’mon. How is it that the richest and most powerful country in the world can't provide even the most basic of human needs for its citizens? What has been holding America back when much poorer countries are able to provide a more stable social safety net? Heather McGhee, one of our most thoughtful economic and policy thinkers has a new book out explaining that racism -- specifically the fear by white Americans that any gains by Black Americans come at their expense -- has reliably turned the majority of white Americans AGAINST government programs that would help all Americans for fear that it would be beneficial to people of color. She joins Michael to discuss what we can do to overcome this decades-long propaganda campaign that has afflicted white America, and how the idea of a "solidarity dividend" can unite a multi-racial, cross-class coalition to take on concentrated wealth and power and build a better country. Ep. 189: "We Are So Damn Fortunate" (with Dr. Eric Topol) | | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

A new report claims that U.S. and worldwide COVID deaths are actually much higher than the official numbers: over 900,000 deaths in the U.S. (as opposed to the official count of 574,000) and nearly 7 million worldwide (twice the official number of 3.24 million). This virus has ravaged the world and upended all of our lives. And we still can’t get the truth? However, as we live through an historically deadly pandemic, we are also living through one of the greatest scientific and medical breakthroughs in history. As Dr. Eric Topol tells Michael Moore, "we are so damn fortunate." In record time, we have developed multiple, extremely effective vaccines that are reaching millions of arms, that cause very limited side effects (and no side effects for the majority of people aside from a sore arm), and it's free. We have an unbelievable opportunity to crush the virus, severely limit the havoc it causes us all, and get back to living healthy lives. Without these amazing vaccines, we'd be staring down several more years of death and destruction. But thanks to these medical and scientific breakthroughs, we stand a fighting chance if we all continue to get vaccinated! Dr. Topol, who is the Executive Vice President of Scripps Research, one of the most important medical research institutions in the world, helps Michael put this all into perspective and clears up myths about the vaccine and about "herd immunity." Michael is joined by public health expert and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Laurie Garrett to discuss the new reports that the United States of America will never reach herd immunity to the coronavirus. President Biden seemed somewhat defeated when he had to announce recently that we will have to settle for 70% getting just one shot by the 4th of July. They discuss how each of us are the most important ambassadors for total vaccination success. If 200,000 Average American citizens who are listening to this podcast each convince 10 people to get their shots — BOOM! Yes, there is a small portion of the American public who will simply refuse to get the vaccine and whom we cannot reach. Ep. 186: Biden Our Time | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

Joe Biden is an unlikely savior. Nothing in his past indicated there was a second coming of FDR on its way. However... WTF is going on?! Elected President at a time of transformational change in America, he has chosen to read the political winds — and those winds have shifted left. The progressive worldview is in ascendance, and the demand by the American public for a big, active government that serves the needs of the American people is what the majority wants. Contrary to what he's done throughout his political career, Joe Biden is not punching left, but riding the progressive wave. And it is looking really, really good. While it's too soon to paint a full picture of the Biden presidency and whether this political change will last, Michael Moore shares candid thoughts about being shocked by how Biden has governed, asks leftists to understand and acknowledge political victories that are occurring, and also notes that there will be serious political battles ahead. He also shares a story of the first time he met Senator Biden in 2004, and makes an open, public plea to the President to keep delivering for the people, keep following his conscience, and keep telling Republicans and Larry Summers to fuck off. Ep. 184: EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM — Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

It took only 10 hours of deliberations for a Minneapolis jury to find former police office Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter of George Floyd. The decision was swift, overwhelming, obvious, and yet, somehow, shocking. Maybe it should not have been such a shock that jurors in the political district that elected Rep. Ilhan Omar to Congress (twice) made the right decision. However, as Michael Moore explains in this EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM episode of Rumble, it is not normal for these cases to go the right way. He shares his feeling of total shock, plus his warning to white Americans and police officers who do not want to see America change into a more diverse, just, and equitable society. He also explains how this one act of accountability is not the massive, revolutionary change we need to address white supremacy, criminal justice reform, and anti-Black racism. Finally, he pays tribute to Darnella Frazier, the courageous teenager who filmed the the Chauvin murder with a steady hand and a lot of gumption. Ep. 180: The Era of 'Big Government Is Evil’ Is Over! (feat. David Dayen) | Rumble w/ Michael Moore

We appear to be entering a new political era in America where Reagan's lie that "government is the problem" and Clinton's declaration that "big government is over" is finally coming to an end. Good Riddance! After decades of cruel, inhumane and unjust economic policies that favored cutting government services, redistributing wealth upwards, and always prioritizing private, for-profit industry over the needs of the people, the political winds have shifted, and they are blowing heavily to the left. And Joe Biden, who has spent a political career on the wrong side of many of these issues, is now embracing the belief that big, good government that spends massive amounts of money to meet the needs of the people is how he wants to lead the country. After passing the $1.9 trillion American Recovery Bill, the next Biden initiative is a multi-trillion dollar infrastructure plan. Michael is joined by David Dayen, Executive Editor of the American Prospect, to discuss this political realignment and detail what the infrastructure plan might do for America's roads, bridges, water pipes, broadband internet, railroads, along with the postal service. They also discuss how stimulus checks and vaccine shots are raising the belief that government can and should be a positive force for good in helping peoples' lives. April 2nd, 1921, is the 100th birthday of Michael's mother, Veronica Moore. If you've ever wondered how Michael Moore turned out to be, well, Michael Moore, start with her as he reveals (mostly) all. The trial of the former police officer who killed George Floyd has been taking place in Minneapolis this week. The horrific footage of the life being choked out of Floyd by Derek Chauvin has been played nonstop from several angles, and we've heard Floyd's cries for his mother over and over again. We're also hearing testimony from young witnesses who stood on the curb watching the murder taking place, not knowing what they could do to help, and in the case of teenager Darnella Frazier, carefully filming the killing so the world could soon bear witness. Michael Moore: Ep 177: “Clips from This This Episode Will Be Run On The Night I'm Not So Lucky" (w.

On Thursday, March 25th, Ron Weiser, Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party, described the 3 top elected women in Michigan - Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson - as “the three witches.” And when asked about how Republicans can remove from office the two Michigan Republican Congressmen who voted to impeach Trump, he stated that, other than defeating them in the primary, "assassination" was the only other option. Weiser is one more example of the heightened risk we face of more political violence and assassinations. We hear a clip from Glenn Beck publicly wondering if he should kill Michael Moore and could he get away with it? Instead of waiting for right-wing crazies to commit more acts of violence against the Michigan “witches,” Michael Moore asks what must be done to stop this potential violence, and to save the lives of elected representatives targeted by the head of the Republican Party. Is it free speech to call for someone’s death? He is joined on this episode by Flint, Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee who survived the January 6th attack on the Capitol. They discuss the existence of Republican political violence in America, and whatever happened to the "9/11-style" Congressional commission that was supposed to investigate the January 6th insurrection. March 23rd was also the 18-year anniversary of Michael Moore winning the Academy Award for "Bowling For Columbine," a film exploring America's love affair with guns, its history of racism and its culture of fear. He took the stage and denounced the Bush administration's illegal and immoral war in Iraq which had been launched days earlier. One of the most memorable voices in "Bowling For Columbine" was Tom Mauser, father of 15 year-old Daniel Mauser, one of the 12 students killed at Columbine High School on April 20th, 1999. Mauser raised an idea that became the key question in the film: while other countries have violent histories, violent video games, violent movies, and profane music, and while some also have plenty of guns, why is it only in America that we shoot and kill each other so much? Twenty years later, Tom Mauser joins Michael on Rumble to discuss the same exact question. Ep. 175: My Afternoon with the Killer of Vincent Chin + #StopAsianHate w/ Annie Tan | Michael Moore

Sign-up for Michael Moore's email list! Klik hier 1987, Michael Moore exclusively interviewed Ronald Ebens, the former Chrysler autoworker who, along with his laid-off autoworker stepson, brutally beat a Chinese-American man named Vincent Chin to death with a baseball bat in Detroit 5 years earlier. A witness heard Ebens tell Chin and his Asian-American friend that they "were the reason we're all getting laid off" -- a reference to the scapegoating of the Japanese for the American auto industry cutting jobs (again, Chin was Chinese, but that made no difference to his killer). The killing of Chin and the fact that Ebens spent no time in jail and only paid a small fine set off a wave of new Asian-American civil rights activism. In this special episode of Rumble, Michael recounts his 2 hour meeting with the defiant killer of Vincent Chin and notes the all-too-familiar "white-guy-as-victim syndrome" that Ebens exhibited due to his legal and media ordeal after he killed Chin. Michael is joined by an Asian-American public school teacher, storyteller, activist, and the cousin of the late Vincent Chin, Annie Tan, who explains the importance of Vincent Chin's legacy and discusses the proactive, positive work that is being done to confront anti-Asian racism and violence. Finally, March 23rd, 2021 is Michael Moore's Liberation Day. After 379 days in a self-imposed quarantine and one month after receiving his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, he's finally leaving the house and he ponders all the places he will go. Ep. 173: A St. Patrick’s Day Plea | Rumble with Michael Moore podcast

The political winds have shifted in America over the past few years, and it is blowing in a very progressive direction. The moderate, centrist Joe Biden is not an ideologue who came into office to lead America left -- but he is following the will of the people, and the people want a government that is responsive to their needs, ends this pandemic, and ensures jobs, health care, good schools and safety. This shift in our country has recently manifested itself with the $1.9 trillion Recovery Act the Democrats succeeded in passing, which will do us a lot of good. This is something we must acknowledge, be proud of, and keep pushing for more of! Michael addresses these shifting political winds and what it means for us all. But first, thousands of Catholic children (often referred to as "migrants," "illegal migrants," "illegal aliens," "unaccompanied migrants," or "unaccompanied children," among other phrases) are being held in detention centers along the border. How long will this inhumane process and dehumanizing debate about it last? Mike challenges the Catholic Church to step up and advocate for these children, their safety and their humanity.
